Beth Bowman Peterson
Dr. Beth (Bowman) Peterson, a 1981 New Trier West Jazz Alum, recently conducted the University of Michigan Marching Band for the performance of the National Anthem. All in the ‘Big House,’ in Ann Arbor, before over 110,000 fans at Michigan’s 2023 Homecoming Game.
As a member of the New Trier West High School Recording Jazz Ensemble, and Student Director, (1980, 1981) all of us remember how Beth would take an idea, no matter how bizarre, and turn it into something well worth doing. All of us would marvel at that and say with, a smile on our faces, Only Beth…! Well, Beth never stopped doing that during an illustrious filled career in music ending with one of the premier jobs in America, Associate Director of the University of Illinois Band Program. Again, Only Beth!
